DAIRY BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Each year, all entrants in the Dairy Business of the Year are judged 70% on financial performance (50% Return on Capital and 20% Operating Profit Margin), 15% on environmental performance and 15% on people management. The competition is judged independently by Danny Donaghy, from Massey University and Michael Lawrence, Director of Naylor Lawrence & Associates (NZ CA).
The day of the awards commences with the National Supporters' Event, an exclusive event held on a previous winners' farm. This event is exclusive to the current season finalists, sponsors and farmers who have been invited by sponsors to attend.
The Awards Celebration Evening begins with networking drinks and canapes, followed by a sumptuous dinner and awards ceremony. This is a fantastic evening where the winners from throughout New Zealand are announced.
A Leaders' Optimisation Day is held the morning following the awards night celebration. This day is an exclusive event for the finalists where they benchmark and discuss in depth their numbers with each other. From this we summarise the key points that contribute to their success (see the Awards Results below).
